Country Tour - Sunday 8th May 2011

Our Country Tour took place on Sunday 8th May, the start was from Brogdale Farm, Brogdale Road, Faversham, just off jct 6 of the M2.

This farm is the Home of The National Fruit Collection and you can have a tour of the Orchards, either guided or self-guided (a small charge applies to the tours) there are market shops surrounding a courtyard, a miniture railway and a restaurant serving snacks or main meals, including Sunday Roasts.

After a chance to look around, and eat or buy if you wanted, our Tour started at aroud 2-15, and took us through the vallage of Throwley and on to Charing, after a short main road trip, we again took to the country lanes through Hothfield, and on through Tenterden to visit Chapeldown Winery for refreshments, and, for those who wanted, to buy wine, cheese etc, and just relax for a while.

We then continued our drive via Appledore and Lympne, and eventually to the finish in Hythe, total mileage on the tour was around 55 miles, with about an hour to the half way break, an hour stop, and then an hour to the finish, where we could visit a restaurant of pub, or just have a quiet walk by the canal.

Everyone said how much they enjoyed the event, and what a lovely way to spend a Sunday, all quite relaxed, no hurry, and good weather.

Ciao, Jeff.
