Morgan Museum, Country Tour & Pub Lunch - Saturday 12th October 2013

The original plan was for Karen & Maurice Leader to organise this event, with lunch at a Wittersham Pub, but then it had to be cancelled as the Italian Chef was leaving. When Clive Baker heard of the cancellation he sent me a message to say that he was familiar with the area and would like to take over the organising and save the event.

This he did and on Sunday 12th October, we met at the Morgan Museum in Rolvenden between 10-30 and 11-30 am. This is a small Museum, mainly dedicated to Morgan 3 wheelers, but is packed to the rafters with all sorts of motoring related items from day’s past, also many model cars and other vehicles, it is well worth the £3 entry fee, there is a shop at the front of the Museum, from where I purchased a die cast model of a Peugeot 202 Michelin car, yes, I know, it’s not Italian, but I am always on the lookout for something different.

We left the Museum at around mid-day and drove through the countryside to Rye, where there were encouraging comments from shoppers as we drove through the town in convoy, some members parked to explore the town, but Ian Marshall and myself drove the Military Road to Appledore and back, great fun, we waited for the others at the Rye end of Military Road and then drove it again back to Appledore and on to The Ferry Pub at Stone where Clive had booked a table for lunch.

There was much to chat about at lunch, including the possibility of members writing features and producing photos of their past experiences with their Alfa’s, George and Rosalyn Homewood said they would be keen on this if someone else would write the feature, Clive was happy to volunteer to do this, so it was agreed, and Clive has since been in touch with Andrew Brown, with a view to it being included in the Driver Magazine.

This was a really good day out, it was well organised and we enjoyed good weather, many thanks to Clive Baker for this event.

Karen & Maurice have said they will organise a similar event in the spring.
